Phoenix Cycling Collective makes Canberra connection official ahead of home town race

Phoenix Cycling Collective has been recognised as the official Canberra men’s cycling team by Sports ACT.

This partnership has been achieved through the solid promotion of road cycling in the Canberra region and beyond over the past 3 years, and will help the team provide development pathways for keen local cyclists to progress to the Subaru National Road Series as well as provide an avenue to pursue open racing.

The team’s first race under the Canberra banner is actually Phoenix Cycling Collective’s home town race, the National Capital Tour, and the team will be represented by riders Andrew McCosker, Nathan Booth, Kelsey Boreham, Hayden Campbell, Steve Crispin and Will Barker as well as ACTAS guest rider Jordan Louis.

‘This partnership with the ACT Government is the result of the combined effort of over 3 years from riders and team staff past and present, as well as the support of the Canberra cycling community.’ said Andrew McCosker, Team Owner and Rider.

‘We are going into our home tour on a real high with this announcement, and will be looking to develop Canberra cycling’s profile in the Subaru National Road Series as well as NSW and Victorian Open Races.’

Michelle Balaz, the team’s Marketing Director, is excited for the future of the team and cycling in Canberra.

‘It is fantastic that the team has been recognised in this way by the ACT Government, and we look forward to working with them in future years to deliver a concrete development framework for cyclists looking to progress to the highest level of cycling in Australia.’

‘We would like to thank the Canberra cycling community, in particular Cycling ACT President Lisa Keeling and the cycling club presidents Vikings Cycling Club Simon Tennent, Canberra Cycling Club Nathan Edwardson and the ANU Cycling Club for their continued support of the team throughout the years, as well as everyone that has ever cheered for us over the years.’

The National Capital Tour runs from Friday 16th September to Sunday 18th September, for more information please visit nationalcapitaltour.com.au
